5 can't-miss apps: Foodie, Infuse, 'Stack' and more



With Facebook rolling out its redesigned like button to everyone and all of the sweet gadgets coming out of Mobile World Congress, you may have missed some of this week's best new apps.

Each weekend, we round up a few of our favorite new and updated apps. This week's list includes an app to help you take better food photos, a music player app for Android and a beautifully addicting game from the creators of 2048.

The newest app from Line, Foodie is all about making sure your food photos look perfect. Snap a new picture or pull one in from your camera roll and the app lets you add dozens of filters — all with aptly named titles like “BBQ” or “Crispy.” It also provides a guide to let you know when you’re holding your camera at the perfectly straight overhead angle for the most centered shots from above.

Pro-tip: If you’re snapping a photo from within the app, it can automatically blur the background of an image.

Infuse
 
Infuse

Infuse aims to help make your videos more beautiful the same way apps like VSCO and Instagram makes your photos look better. The app offers dozens of beautiful video filters that will make your videos look way more interesting before you share them. It also offers a set of editing tools that let you adjust settings like the brightness, contrast, highlights and saturation for even more fine grained control.

Pro-tip: The app comes with a set of free effects, with additional ones available in packs for in-app purchase. But the company is offering one additional filter pack for free for a limited time.

Fabulous 

Music Player (Fabulous)

Though still in beta, Music Player (Fabulous) is a promising audio player for Android. The app supports a variety of file types and allows you to easily manage your all the music on your device. You can also create playlists and the app pulls in cover art for a beautiful music player.

Pro-tip: You can customize the app’s color scheme to choose the deafault color styles you see within the app.

Stack

Stack

The latest game from the same developers of 2048 Stack is yet another super simple but uber-addicting game. All you have to do is stack the falling blocks into an ever higher tower but the blocks become smaller with each one that isn’t perfectly lined up.

Pro-tip: The sound effects are just as addicting as the game itself. Each time you perfectly stack a block you’ll hear a musical note, which climbs higher with each consecutive perfect stack.

Weather

Weather by Tinybop

Weather by Tinybop is a kids app that adults will also be able to enjoy. The app is all about teaching children about the weather and the (very basic) science behind events like rain and snow. You can use the app to explore a tiny atmospheric model to observe what happens when the wind blows, rain falls or the temperature goes up. You can even zoom in to see how details like how snowflakes and raindrops form.

Pro-tip: As you explore different weather effects, you can see how changes in the temperature affect the pets and plants around you.

Here are a few high-profile people who were brutally fired. Bosses, don't do this.

These have got to sting. While no one would likely list getting fired as an enjoyable experience, some employees have been shown the door in particularly cruel — and public — circumstances. Take Rick Tyler, the former spokesperson for Republican White House hopeful Ted Cruz. Over the weekend, Tyler posted a link to a story and video published in University of Pennsylvania's student newspaper The Daily Pennsylvanian that purported to show Cruz's rival, Senator Marco Rubio, telling a Cruz staffer that the bible didn't have many answers in it.
